While prepping for the day, the girls sipped on mimosas in Rachel’s childhood home. Family members scurried around making sure everything was ready for the day. Music played in the background as the flower girl anxiously waited to put on her twirly dress. Kevin made sure his beloved antique chevy truck was placed where they’d want it for pictures later. The air was filled with excitement as reality that it was Kevin and Rachel’s wedding day set in.
Each wedding I attend and photograph, there is always something that sticks with me. For Kevin and Rachel’s wedding, it was marriage in general. For the anniversary dance, the DJ did something unique that will forever stay with me. Rather than having couples leave the dance floor and return to their seats when their amount of years married was said, he had them stay to the sides of the floor. At the end of the dance, he brought everyone forward and had them pose for a group photograph. It was crazy to me to see how many individuals were married and even more to see how long. It reminded me that more important than the perfect details of the ceremony and reception is the marriage and the longevity of love after their wedding day.
Kevin and Rachel are surrounded with examples of love and marriage. In fact, Rachel’s parents were celebrating their wedding anniversary on the same day they said I do. It was so special to see the love between her parents and envision Kevin and Rachel years from now. I am so grateful to have been a part of such a wonderful wedding day and can’t thank Kevin and Rachel enough for allowing me to do so.
