As I begin to write this, it feels a little bit like I’m prepping for a speech at their wedding. Maddie has been one of my absolute best friends since we were in sixth grade. Back then, we bonded over drama club and Wednesday afternoon walks to church group. In high school, she spent hours on end with me while I recovered from a wisdom teeth surgery and I spent many evenings in the bleachers watching her basketball games. In college, we attended different schools but always had summer get togethers and endless hours of laughter together.
Now, Maddie and I in a lot of ways are closer than we’ve ever been. I am lucky enough to have her along with me as a second shooter for many weddings as well as a traveling companion. Through photography, we’ve been able to have several girls trips… to name a few.. Kentucky, Arizona and Oregon. During our long road trips, we daydream about having babies at the same time and talk about our futures.
Insert Travis. Maddie’s soul mate and **other** best friend. In all of my years knowing Maddie, I’ve never seen her as comfortable as she is when she’s with Travis. I love the two of them together so much that I literally started crying during their engagement session. Travis treats Maddie like a princess. Her calls her sweetheart and always knows what to say to make her smile.
“Travie” is everything and more than I could ever ask for my best friend. Because I’ve already written quite a bit I’ll have to save their proposal story for another time.. or feel free to message me about it because it’s one of the ABSOLUTE best. Spoiler Alert, the Grand Canyon was involved.
