I have so many things to say about this beautiful couple and only one blog post to do so.  I had the pleasure of photographing Andrew & Margeaux for the first time when Andrew proposed to her at the Arboretum at the University of Illinois.  The two are both graduates of the University and are both originally Illinois natives.  Since graduating, the couple has ventured west and now call Boulder, Colorado their home. From the moment I met the two of them, I knew their was something incredible about this couple.  Andrew & Margs are such romantics.  From the beginning of their relationship until the day they got married, Margeaux composed a journal/book that she gave to Andrew as a wedding gift.  The book (pictured further down in the blog) is filled with stories, bible verses, concert tickets, love quotes, etc. that she put together with multiple colors and flawless handwriting.  At the wedding reception, Andrew’s mother described another way they expressed their love for each other through writing. While Andrew studied abroad in Italy, Margeaux and Andrew wrote handwritten letters back and forth every week that he was away.  Maybe I am just a total romantic dreamer when it comes to things like that, but I just couldn’t get over the amount of extra effort the two of them went to in order to do that rather than send quick emails or text messages.  Although the journal and the post cards are tangible items, the romance that Andrew & Margeaux possess when around each other is clear to anyone who knows this couple.  When you see their wedding photos, you will practically feel the way they adore each other just by looking at the images.

Andrew and Margeaux’s special day was at Spruce Mountain Ranch in Colorado Springs, CO.  Their wedding ceremony was held outside at the Trey’s Vista. They were married under a beautiful wooden canopy with the view of the mountains and open fields in the distance.  Their reception was held in the Ponderosa Room and was filled with beautiful flowers, candles, and white bulbed lights streamed across the ceiling.  All of the detail that was put into their wedding day was gorgeous.  I loved that the bridesmaids were able to choose their own style of dress as long as it was a blush pink color.  They all had different necklines and styles, some had sequins while others were solid. As different as all of the dresses were, they were all tied together perfectly by each bridesmaid wearing a flower crown on their head.  The groomsmen wore dark gray suits with brown shoes and coral patterned ties.  The bridal party looked so wonderful together and made my job easy with how cooperative and outgoing they all were. 

The ceremony was a Coptic Orthodox wedding and was so interesting to see the different traditions that they incorporated.  It was a very religious and spiritual wedding and I loved how valued parts of the ceremony were to Andrew, Margeaux and their families.  Their reception was entertained by the band, Thumpin (a band based in Denver, CO). They played everything from Bruno Mars to Whitney Houston and made sure that the entire wedding was up on their feet dancing.  Also at the reception, Thumpin took a break to surprise Andrew with a performance by his sister Sophie and his new wife Margeaux.  Sophie played guitar and harmonized with Margeaux to the song, This Must be the Place (The Lumineers cover of a Talking Heads original).  The entire day was filled with little moments and special things that made their wedding day so personalized to them as a couple.  I am so, so, so grateful to have had the opportunity to travel to Colorado and photograph Andrew & Margeaux’s wedding day.  John and I can’t thank them enough for allowing us to stay in their home for the long weekend and for recommending so many wonderful things to do while we were there.  Margeaux has become a dear friend to me through the wedding process and I already cannot wait to see her and work with her and her loving husband Andrew again in the future.
