Kaylee and Karis were friends in high school but didn’t end up realizing their love for each other until many, many years later. She wasn’t sure that Karis was her type but once she let him in she instantly knew that he was perfect for her. And speaking of perfect… for their proposal, Karis had rented out a private dining room at a restaurant in downtown Chicago for his proposal. They will be getting married next September and I cannot wait to see how wonderful their special day is.
For their engagement session, we met at Lake of the Woods in Mahomet the day after one of her friend Ellen’s wedding day. Ellen was actually who introduced me to Kaylee and recommended me for her wedding photography. It was so much fun to be able to work with Kaylee in Ellen’s wedding as a bridesmaid and then again the next day for her engagement session. Although I already had a good sense of Kaylee’s personality, meeting Karis and seeing their interactions really allowed me to get to know them as a couple. My favorite part of their session was trying to get Kaylee on Karis’ back for a picture… what seemed like a simple task was much more complex for the two of them! It was absolutely hilarious and we’ve decided that they will have to practice in case we decide to have them try again on their wedding day! Overall, I had a great time working with these two and love these photos!
