Abigail contacted me within the days of their engagement inquiring about the dates I was available. She wanted to know when I was open for her to set her date… based off of working with me! How flattering is that?! Andrew & Abigail live in Indianapolis so we weren’t able to meet up immediately, however we did Skype for way longer than what was necessary… exploring so many other topics than wedding photography. That’s kind of how my entire experience working with this couple has been. It has always been about more than just wedding photography. I love catching up with them and hanging out with them every time I see them so I was overly excited to spend their wedding day with them.
Andrew and Abigail both grew up in my home town of Mahomet and had many friends and family from the area at their wedding. Their wedding was on October 17th and took place at the Mahomet United Methodist Church. It a bit chilly throughout the day but we had sunshine to keep us warm. Andrew and Abigail chose not to see each other before the ceremony but had lots of fun taking photos individually beforehand. We went around the church to the plain white walls, the tall grasses and even to the playground with the boys.
I loved their wedding colors, the pine green on the girls popped so perfectly. Their dresses were so classy especially paired with the gold accents and their fuchsia flowers. And I still can’t get over Abigail.. her lace dress, delicate veil, sleek updo and her grandmother’s pearls made for a stunning image. The boys opted for classic black suits but added pine green pocket squares and fuchsia boutonnieres to match the ladies.
After their ceremony, we took the country way towards Urbana for the reception at Stone Creek. We stopped on the way and let Andrew & Abigail step out of the party bus to take photos on the open country road. I am so glad we did because I am obsessed with these images! We then made our way to the Arboretum on UIUC’s campus to take more of Andrew & Abigail along with their bridal party. I don’t know if I was bias because I knew most of the bridal party… but they were SO much fun to work with. They had their own ideas and were excited about pictures which is always a plus. After we got lots of great shots with the group, we let them continue their party in the bus while we took more of the newlyweds. We had DREAM lighting during their photos, with the sun starting to go down and that golden glow. The photos we took when we arrived at Stone Creek on the golf course are some of my favorites all season.
Andrew & Abigail’s reception was filled with great food, good company and lots of dancing. The flower girl and ring bearer were the cutest things ever.. dancing and running around together. I loved every part of this wedding and am so grateful that I was able to be a part of it. Andrew and Abigail, you guys are the best.
