When I first met Mitch and Jourdan, I instantly envisioned their engagement photos. As we talked at their consultation it was clear what they wanted was what I imagined for them. We all wanted a country sunset engagement session. We wanted to incorporate open fields, rustic barns, corn, their pup, and a country theme throughout. After all, Mitch is a farmer and Jourdan will soon be a farmer’s wife. They both grew up on farms near each other. I loved that they encompassed so much of themselves in these photos. Mitch wore his favorite hat and Jourdan showed off her many pairs of cowboy boots. Throughout the session, Mitch joked with Jourdan about in the “look at each other poses” she kept looking at his teeth instead of his eyes! He eventually decided she’d owe him a dollar for each time she did it. I found it hilarious because I know when I have taken photos with John and done poses like that we always talk about how we feel cross eyed in the pics!
In addition to Mitch and Jourdan, there was a third addition to their engagement photos. Sadie, their two year old Labrador Retriever, was a must have for their photos. She was such a good girl and just couldn’t help but squeeze right in between her parents. She smiled with mouth open wide, tongue out and just sat patiently while I took pictures. Note…I had no toys, treats or anything for her! She was just a natural behind the camera. Can you tell I was thoroughly impressed?! Bear would never do that without incentive… but give him a ball, carrots or a squeaky toy.. he’ll do anything!
To end our session, we explored an open field with purple and yellow wildflowers. The field was a photographer’s dream but little did we know it was also mosquito village. While trying to pose, every couple of seconds one of them would have to swat a mosquito or get it off the other one. I was so happy they stuck it out and were awesome about it because the location was AMAZING. Jourdan and Mitch, you two are so much fun to work with and I am happy to have had the opportunity to photograph you. Is it next summer yet?
