Good morning and Happy Friday from my current corner of the world. As I write this, I’m enjoying the complimentary coffee from downstairs and watching Live with Kelly and Ryan on my hotel room TV… living the life right?! Haha, just kidding. But in all seriousness, it really hasn’t been that bad. I’ve created a nice little office space in our room and have been able to be crazy productive while here. However, I have two wedding free weekends in a row before going into an insane fall schedule so I’ll be spending them relaxing and doing ‘weekend things’ like everyone else! Have a great weekend friends!
“Date Week.”
As our hotel stay and time in Champaign is coming to an end, John and I decided to do “date week”. Well… I decided! Because we’ll be heading up to our new home in La Grange in about a week, I figured it was time for us to check off some of the Champaign things. Tuesday we started off with Putt Putt. We were really excited going into it but I’ll be honest, it was WAY too hot outside which made for a kind of miserable time. Although, we did enjoy laughing about how embarrassingly sweaty we both were and how horrible it would have been if it was a first date.
Wednesday evening we opted for something indoors… sushi at Sushi Kame! It had been forever since I had eaten there and John having been with a friend recently said it was a must-do this week. After having it this week, I would say the same! It was delicious and I would highly recommend it to any sushi lovers.
Well.. Thursday came and we were both tired after having long work days! We opted out of a “date” and watched Chopped in our hotel room all night! It wasn’t quite the Champaign bucket list week we originally intended but that’s okay 🙂
Hopscotch Bakery.
In addition to John and I’s “date week”, I also decided to check off a Champaign something during the day while he was at work. I met a friend for coffee and breakfast at Hopscotch Bakery. They just recently opened this bakery & shop and it is sooooo cute. Wonderful food, gifts and such a nice environment inside. I know that it will be a favorite when I come back to Champaign for weddings this fall!
The Heart That Gives Foundation.
My mom is a rock star. After falling in love with South Africa after several missions trips, she decided to start her own foundation. The Heart That Gives Foundation specifically helps the people of the KwaZulu Natal area. My mom has found her true life passion and gets to South Africa as much as she can to help. My sister, grandmother and many of my sisters’ friends have also made trips there. I plan to in the next year and know that just like them, I will leave my heart in South Africa.
To check out her website and find out more about the cause, head over to The Heart That Gives Foundation.
Friday Feels with Exciting News!
