Oh, Lake Geneva.. I love you. I am sad to leave you but I am so grateful to have spent the last 5 days at you. It was a week full of fun with John, his dad and our pups. So I apologize now because I will probably write more than usual because Geneva gives me all the feels 🙂
The Cozy Little Cabin.
The cabin in Geneva belonged to John’s grandmother and now belongs to his dad and Uncle. It is such a charming little house filled with lots of antiques and cute nooks. The bedroom we stay in is up in the attic room and I love hearing the stories of John and his brother when they were little playing up there.
The cabin has a wonderful patio where we spent most nights and mornings while there. If I could, I’d begin every day on that patio with a cup of coffee and a good book. I’d also be more than okay with ending every day with wine, John and playing his guitar and the sounds of the lake in the distance.
Fluff & Her Cousin, Pepe.
These two are a pretty funny pair. During the five days spent together, Pepe helped Fluff come into her own. As some of you may have read in earlier posts, Fluff didn’t have the best life prior to us finding her so she’s got a couple of quirks. She’s the sweetest dog I’ve ever met but sometimes I don’t think she knows quite how to be a dog! Throughout the week, Pepe helped her by getting extra animated for treats, walks and pretty much anything as he’s a very excitable dog.
Golfing.
John loves to golf and Lake Geneva is one of his favorite places to do so. We played twice while we were there. Well… correction.. John and his dad played twice and I drove the golf cart and enjoyed adult beverages. I love going along watching them play and also love to hit a couple of balls each time. If only that was considered “playing golf”!
The Lake itself.
Ahhh… I can’t get enough of it. We fished, boated, swam, laid out, walked next to it… whatever activity we were doing, I just love the lake. One of my favorite parts of the trip was the day John and I took the boat out for the afternoon. We went along the sides of the lake and had a blast looking at all of the incredible lake houses.
John.
This week was the third time I have been to the lake with John. The summer we started dating we went for a weekend there and I swear every time we go it feels like that first time. It’s crazy to think that it’s been four years since that first trip. It’s always special to go to the lake and I can’t for all of the future trips we’ll have there together.
Breakfast on Vacation.
Our favorite. John and I are all about going out, trying new restaurants and exploring for dinner and lunches but we love to make breakfast on vacation. Coffee, toast, potatoes, eggs, and most importantly.. bacon!
