Hudson Farms Wedding, Eric & Christa, Urbana IL
“I don’t have my waterproof mascara on… ” joked Eric when Christa walked away, tears sprinkling down his cheeks.
It was a little over an hour before the ceremony, Eric and Christa shared a moment. A moment in which they didn’t see each other but held hands back to back and prayed. Those few quite minutes together.. just taking it all in.
Eric and Christa’s wedding day was simple and so special. Throughout their day, one theme was fluent throughout. That theme was family. It was obvious to me from their first look in the morning that Christa and her father have a special relationship. Their relationship was emphasized even more when they took everyone by surprise with their father daughter dance. Rather than sticking to one song, Christa and her dad bopped around the dance floor to a medley of meaningful songs to them.
Above all of the moments throughout the day, Christa’s fathers speech stands out to me. As a child, Christa was very organized and timely. She liked knowing when and how long things would take. As a way to explain the duration of tasks/roadtrips/etc, her family used Scooby Doos. Now, let me explain. Christa’s favorite show was Scooby Doo and she spent plenty of time watching episodes. With that being said, she knew how long the episodes would take. So instead of saying, this drive will take one hour.. her family would say, “Two Scooby Doo’s Christa”.
156 Scooby Doo’s. Eric and Christa, you have officially been married for approximately 156 Scooby Doo’s (and counting!). I wish you a million more episodes and a lifetime of happiness! Thank you for allowing me to photograph your special day.
