Mike & Amy were married at Mahomet Christian Church on April 30th of 2016. The photo above just sums up their day perfectly. As mentioned in Amy’s father’s speech, Mike and Amy complete each other. Amy is outgoing and expressive and Mike is her voice of reason and the glue that holds everything together. The love between the two of these wonderful people is obvious to anyone who has ever been around them. In addition to their perfect pairing is Amy’s daughter, Kennedie. Amy and Mike heavily incorporated Kennedie into their wedding ceremony and made sure that she knew that she was also a very important part in their marriage. Mike took time during their ceremony to say a few private words to Kennedie. Although I have seen so many wedding ceremonies, this moment in theirs will forever stand out to me.
Prior to their special ceremony, Mike and Amy chose not to see each other. My second shooter Maddie and I spent the morning with the ladies and then photographed each group separately at the church. I loved the color of the bridesmaids dresses especially when paired with the groomsmen navy and pink striped ties. The bridal party was such a great group especially because I had worked with several of them prior to Mike and Amy’s day. They all joked around and made photos fun especially when the men decided it was a must to photograph their fun socks. After the ceremony, the fun continued when we were able to go outside (yayyyyy for the rain stopping!) and take full bridal party photos and bride and groom photos. Because it had rained so much prior to this, all of the heels were sinking into the grass… especially Amy’s! I am still kicking myself for not getting a photo of her feet completely sunken into the grass with her toes floating off of the ground. Despite the not ideal grass conditions, everyone was so high spirited and optimistic during their photos and we had a blast. After outdoor photos, we made a pit stop at JT Walker’s for a round since it was a Mahomet bunch!
Mike & Amy’s reception was held at the I-Hotel in Champaign. The bridal party exceeded my expectations with their crazy entrances and even incorporated the wheelbarrow stunt to welcome themselves to the party. The celebrations continued throughout the night especially when Kennedie and her girl posse took over the dance floor for the whip & nay nay. Overall, I couldn’t have been happier to be a part of Mike & Amy’s special day. I had so much seeing friends from my hometown and witnessing the start of Mike, Amy and Kennedie’s official life together.
