It’s always a unique and personal experience when the couple I am photographing is from my hometown. I usually know majority if not all of the bridal party and as expected they typically give me a hard time. Charlie and Jenna’s wedding was nothing short of a hometown wedding experience. I knew all of the bridesmaids on a personal level and grew up hanging out with all of the groomsmen. And while this group is known to be one big party, Charlie and Jenna’s wedding day seemed to make them even more fun.
The night before the wedding, all of the bridesmaids had one last sleepover at the Gatehouse in Allerton Park before Jenna became an officially married woman. They giggled and talked about all of their past memories and the new ones that they would make the next day. They awoke in the morning and wore their silky matching robes, enjoyed mimosas and started prepping for the big wedding day. The groomsmen did more or less the same in the morning but also made a special trip to the barber shop. They made sure to get all spiffied up for the day with freshly groomed faces.
Charlie and some of his groomsmen arrived early to make sure there was plenty of time to spare before seeing his bride. He paced the room and messed with his tie but didn’t admit to being all that nervous. When Jenna was ready, she met Charlie next to beautiful brick and ivy wall but they could not see each other. There, Charlie and Jenna read the letters they had written each other. To see each of them light up reading the words the other wrote was so romantic and beautiful. After their letters, their day officially began! Charlie and Jenna looked like a fairy tale in the tall tree line posing together. They laughed, kissed and stayed overwhelmed with each other throughout the entire day.
Their laughs were matched with an abundance of joy from their bridal party. Everyone was eager to pose and made sure that fun was had from the beginning to end of the day. Whether that was the groomsmen who insisted on taking a picture poking out of Jenna’s dress or the pair that took shots when entering the reception; they had one fantastic group around them.
While the day was wonderful, it’s important for me to take a moment to talk about Charlie and Jenna. The way the treats her and their natural way around each other is truly beautiful. When Charlie turned around to see Jenna for the first time, he exclaimed, “I didn’t expect that at all” with tears running down his face. As Charlie’s best man said during his speech, “they really do bring out the best in each other”. They couldn’t take their eyes off of each other their entire day. I really think if you told them they were alone for their first dance they would have believed you because they were so caught up in each other. Their love for each other is why I do what I do. Thank you Charlie and Jenna for allowing me to witness your wedding, I’m grateful to have been your wedding photographer.
