Boston Esplanade Engagement Session, Matt & Kelly, Boston MA

Matt and Kelly met in Boston.  It was the day after Matt moved to the city to begin law school. Kelly was a senior at Boston college. Matt was out with some of his law school friends. Kelly was supporting one of her friends who had just graduated by going to a bar where law school students hung out.  It just so happened to be the same bar Matt was at. While there, they met and the rest was history.

While their wedding is in Chicago (Kelly’s hometown), Matt and Kelly have made Boston their home.  Not only do they live in Boston, it also happens to be where they got engaged.  Kelly’s family was visiting them and Matt knew it was the perfect time to ask Kelly to be his wife.

Matt’s original plan was to propose in the Boston Commons but unfortunately his plans were interrupted.  As they walked towards the pretty bridge & pond he had planned to propose at, Matt noticed some ‘furry creatures’ ahead.   And by furry creatures, I mean there was an actual ‘furry creatures convention’ going on…. which means adults wearing full animal costumes running around in the park.

With the furry creatures changing his original plans, Matt decided to take Kelly and her parents to the Esplanade river walk. He proposed to Kelly on one of the beautiful bridges there.  Although it wasn’t his original proposal location, it couldn’t have gone more perfect.

For their engagement photos, Matt and Kelly were able to incorporate both locations in Boston.  To my disappointment, we didn’t see any fuzzy creature conventions taking place while there. I loved getting to photograph these two (and their perfect pup, Guinness) in the city they love and already can’t wait for their Chicago wedding next year.
