Happy Friday from Portland, OR! We are here for a wedding in Redmond, OR on Saturday but had a couple of days to spend in Portland first. Neither Maddie or myself had ever been here so we’ve been having quite the time exploring. Today, we’re in Alberta at an adorable coffee shop (Barista) slowly starting our day after having a big day of exploring yesterday. With that being said, this week’s Friday Feels are all about our adventures in Portland!
The Pearl District.
After getting in super late Wednesday evening, Maddie and I were both feeling pretty groggy in the morning. It wasn’t until breakfast at Bijou Cafe that we realized why we were extra sleepy… we went through three time zones getting to Oregon!
After filling up on coffee and breakfast, we headed to some of the “must sees” in Portland. To begin, we went to Powell’s Bookstore. I think it’s safe to say Maddie and I could’ve stayed there all day long. We spent around 45 minutes looking around and hardly made a dent on the place!
Next on the list… VOODOO DONUT! Before getting to Portland, we asked friends who’d visited where we should go. Literally everyone said that Voodoo Donut was an absolute must! We waited in line, met new friends and enjoyed checking out this famous corner stop. Even though Maddie & I always seem to want the same thing when ordering, we made ourselves try two different donuts! I chose Oh Captain, My Captain (aka a donut with Cap’n Crunch piled on top) and Maddie went with the NoName donut (chocolate frosting with rice krispies/peanut butter). Voodoo Donut was well worth the wait. I know when asked what to do in Portland, it’ll make the list!
Our Air BNB.
These pictures speak for themselves but seriously the cutest. Our Air BNB was described as an Artist’s Garden Retreat and that’s exactly what it was. Located above a garden shed.. this high ceiling, beautifully decorated studio was a quaint oasis for our night in Alberta.
Alberta Arts District.
If you know me, you know that I can’t help but stop when I see an ideal photo opp. Alberta Arts District was FULL of them! Maddie and I have enough self portraits to last us for life. But seriously.. it felt like every corner we ended up taking a picture. We felt like complete tourists but just embraced it! For happy hour, we trusted our Air BnB guide and paid a visit to Radio Room. It was such a fun atmosphere and right up our alley. With an indoor/outdoor open layout, it enjoyed drinks and small plates. Our waitress was a midwesterner which made for hilarious conversations about corn and flat land!
After hitting the ground running yesterday, today is a little slower. We’re taking it easy and making our way to Bend, OR for the wedding tomorrow! Stay up to date on our adventures on Instagram. … and look out for the wedding blog Wednesday!
