Nautical Engagement Session, JR & Amy, Central IL

Amy was always the girl of JR’s dream. It all began when they were best friends in high school. JR wanted to date her but Amy didn’t want to commit to anything at the time.  They went their separate ways after high school and didn’t reconnect until several years later. When they got back in touch, it was clear that JR was right after all… they were meant to be.

About a year and a half after they started dating, JR planned to propose to Amy on Christmas.  But as soon as he purchased the ring and asked Amy’s parents, he just couldn’t wait until the holidays.   Two days after buying the ring, JR proposed to Amy in a sweet and simple way, in their home, with just the two of them. According to Amy, he was crying but he will forever deny it!

For their engagement session, we met at Clinton Lake, a place that’s very significant to them.  JR and Amy love boating and spend as many weekends at the lake as possible.  As I approached the lake, I instantly knew I wanted to start their session in the field of wild yellow flowers. The flowers paired with Amy’s royal blue top made for such bright, fun photographs.  We continued our session around the lake and ended on their speed boat. Their images on the boat were paired with natural windy boat hair and  a beautiful glow from the sun. After our photos, Amy and JR continued boating and enjoyed the perfect Spring evening.
