Country Blush Pink Wedding at Eastwood Golf Club, Matt & Savanna, Streator IL

One of my second shooter and I’s favorite wedding day traditions is going to a nice breakfast before the wedding day begins.  For Matt & Savanna’s wedding, we began our day at the Country Cupboard in Streator, IL.  It was clear from the moment we walked in that this was definitely a local favorite.  The staff was so friendly and the breakfast food was incredible.  After filling our bellies with coffee and omelettes, we headed to Savanna’s parents house to begin the work day.

When we arrived, we mentioned we had breakfast at the Country Cupboard.  What we didn’t know when we went there was the connection that this family had to the restaurant.  As it turns out, Savanna’s 90-year-old grandmother, makes all of the pies and specials at the restaurant. I mean, how incredible is that?! She is 90-years-old and still makes 15 or more pies a morning for the restaurant.  To hear that story made me one – bummed I didn’t try some of the pie and two – absolutely in awe of Savanna’s grandmother.

It’s the little stories and sweet moments at every wedding that get to me. For Matt & Savanna’s wedding, the first story was of Savanna’s grandmother.  The second came during the reception when one of Savanna’s bridesmaids gave a speech.  Her speech wasn’t originally planned but as a long time friend of both Matt and Savanna, she felt she had to say a few things.  What I loved most about her speech was the story of how Matt and Savanna met.

She began by mentioning that anyone who knows Matt knows that he isn’t much of a talker. She also started by talking about how anyone who knows Savanna knows she can be a bit sassy.  From there, she continued by telling the story of Matt and Savanna’s first interaction and how it involved each of their known traits.  I loved how much she spoke from the heart and how you could tell the depth that she knew these two.  It gave me and I am sure everyone else in the room such an insight to Matt and Savanna’s loving relationship and a glimpse into their future together.

Along with the sweet stories, there were many other reasons why Matt and Savanna’s wedding day was special.  The genuine excitement from Savanna and her bridesmaids as they prepared for the day, the little flower girls love for being in front of the camera, the way Savanna’s dad twirled her mother around the dance floor. These little moments along with several others contributed to a perfect start into Matt and Savanna’s married life. I am so happy to have been a part of their wedding day and hope you enjoy some of my favorite photos below!
