Winter Wedding at Pear Tree Estate, Brad & Kaylea, Champaign IL

Blizzard Warning.

That’s what my weather app said two days before Brad and Kaylea’s wedding day. With winter weddings, there is always a risk of ‘winter weather’. However, when planning you never expect for it to be as extreme as a blizzard warning. Due to the weather warnings, I expected to receive a phone call from a nervous Kaylea leading up to her wedding day.

To my surprise, that call never came. Furthermore, on the morning of her wedding day Kaylea was as excited and happy as she was every other day we had talked. In fact, one of the first conversations we had was how much she wanted to take photos outside… DREAM BRIDE!!!! In contrast, her mom thought she was crazy and tried to talk her out of going outside (which was completely fair!). However, Kaylea was determined to make it work and have dreamy white winter wedding photos.

In 26mph hour winds with sideways blowing snow, Kaylea’s dreams came true and we took outdoor wedding photos. Luckily, Pear Tree Estate’s beautiful floor to ceiling windows made for the perfect backdrop and wind block outside. After taking majority of their bridal party and wedding photos inside the venue, I assured the bridal party we would spend six minutes tops outside. I started a timer as we headed outside to make sure I stayed on track. Much to the bridal parties delight, when we were finished I looked at the timer.. 2 minutes and 30 seconds! SO WORTH IT for the photos in the snow.

Brad and Kaylea, your day really was the perfect winter wedding. I loved everything about spending it with you two and how happy you are together. Thank you for letting me be a part of your day. Above all, thank you for being so willing and excited about photos throughout it. I hope you’re having an incredible honeymoon with MUCH warmer weather to celebrate your first week as a Mr. and Mrs.!
